Hatch only briefly gets into The Chicken Boy characters, and will be expanded upon in future albums. Many songs on Hatch are written from the perspective of an unnamed man, on his journey to reclaim a powerful object, called 10k, from the evil Marzaglio. Marzaglio is hidden in the North over treacherous mountains and his location is a secret, leading the man to a realization that he must first travel to meet Fazoul in order to learn how to defeat Marzaglio. Fazoul is an older man who tried to reclaim 10k from Marzaglio's predecessor years before and is said to know the path needed to get past the mountains and reach Marzaglio.
